When night falls, the temperature in Bangkok may dip a little, but elsewhere, in certain areas spread across the sprawling city, it’s starting to get hot! There are many reasons why Bangkok’s nightlife is world-famous, but we’re not going to go to those that cater to a certain nocturnal need. Instead, we’re eager to show you where the good fun can be had so that you may let down your hair (extensions!) and experience the pleasure locals call sanook. The party scene is not unlike the city itself: a patchwork of neighbourhoods with their own social complexity (the young rich go to one place, the rest go to another). If dancing or drinking or both equals nightlife to you, go where fellow night-crawlers set off. Thais, as you shall soon discover, love to have fun, and, in Bangkok, the excitement is only beginning.

Bed Supper Club
While the idea of dining on beds is not entirely new (especially for those of you from Miami!), there’s literally another side to
the divan. Bed Supper Club is also a dance club, and previous headline DJs include the UK trio Dirty Vegas. Dance among the
beautiful people!

Demo
It’s where dance music fans seek their Nirvana in a graffiti-decked godown. Whether electro house, acid techno, or nu-disco, this
is no place to come and sit still. While the crowd may be a little young, it’s the youthful energy that gives this club its positive vibe.
Thonglor Soi 10 • (66)2-7116971 • Daily 8pm to 2am |

Blue Velvet
It’s a dungeon without any dragon. Above, hanging bulbs are packed tightly but few are lit. Below, the black and white tiles remind
you of an old English manor. There’s nothing blue or velvety about it. The music, on the other hand, is less a mish-mash and more
soul funk and house classics.

808
Considered one of Bangkok’s best dance venues, 808 is where the regular appearance of international DJs—Goldie and
Judge Jules have played here last year—holds the crowd in a head-bobbing trance. Music here is totally intoxicating.

Route 66
Here, hip-hop is hot; so hot, in fact, that the club offers no dance floor for you to break into sweat; just tables on which to place
bottles of whiskey and pails of ice—a typical Thai drinking arrangement. You get your kicks right where you guzzle your alcohol;
you are where the action is.

Aqua
Nobody can really tell you why this al fresco bar at The Four Season’s is such a lure for Bangkok’s fashion tribes. The drinks are
standard offerings, the music is mostly piped-in, the chairs not super comfortable, yet come they do, and often in cliques. Good
thing you can order the super chocolate cake from the hotel’s bakery.

The Met Bar
Part of the ultra-cool Metropolitan Hotel, this is where the moneyed, the suave, and the stylish come to sip their fresh-mint Mohito
at what many considered the most beautiful bar in Bangkok. Once inside, you cannot imagine you’re in a corner of what used to be
the YWCA!

Q Bar
Although the hipsters have moved away from Q Bar, this is where you’ll still find a crowd that knows how to get the party going.
Of course it helps when you have some of the most in-demand international DJs spinning, but in this polished club, music is only
one part of the giddy mix.

 |
Iron Fairies
With resident blacksmiths making creatures from children’s books for sale, this is not what you will expect when stepping into
clubland Thonglor. And that’s why it’s cool and a perfect respite from the familiar. There’s live music here and some rather good,
juicy burgers. Pity the place is small and the doors are closed by 10 to control the crowd.

Sake Lay
Despite all the sake it serves, this is surprisingly not a place full of Japanese businessmen (and their admirers). If you like sake—
both chilled and warm—you will enjoy this little Shinjuku-ish bar that’s almost a temple of respite in the middle of other boisterous
bars.
